If there is one thing I learned from my Mom, it's that she was NEVER, EVER ashamed of the gospel. Mom shared her faith in Jesus Christ with everyone who would listen. When Mom was saved, her life was exactly like God describes:
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 ~ "Behold, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: all things are passed away, behold all things become new"
Mom realized very early on after her salvation that the only reason we are put on this earth is to worship and serve Christ. It wasn't about having the best house (Mom will have her mansion in heaven soon), it wasn't ever about having the best of everything, it was simply to worship and serve Christ.
If you would like to have the same hope and faith that our Mom had, it's very simple, but has to come from your heart. Mom taught this to the children at First Brethern Church when we were younger.
- A - Accept that you are a sinner - Romans 3:23 - For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
- B - Believe that Jesus is God's Son - Romans 5:8 - But God commanded his love toward us, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
- C - Confess your sins to the Lord - Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
If you are ready, and the Holy Spirit has spoken to you, you can say the following prayer or one of your own. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, please tell someone!
Dear God:
I know I have sinned and that my sin separates me from you. I am sorry for my sin. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me so my sin can be forgiven. I believe Jesus rose from the dead and is alive. God, please forgive me. I ask Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior and Lord. I will obey you and live for you the rest of my life. Thank you.
In Jesus' Name, Amen
